Meme from Madeleine + some

INFO
1. Name:
2. Birthday:
3. Where do you live:
4. IM:
5. What are you studying/What are you working as:
6. What makes you happy:
7. What are you listening to now/have listened to last:
8. Weirdest food you like:
9. An interesting fact about you:
10. Are you in love/have a crush at the moment:
11. Favorite place to be:
12. Favorite lyric:
13. Best time of the year:
14. Put a picture (or visual representation) of yourself:

RECOMMEND
1. A film:
2. A book:
3. A song:
4. A band:

PLUS
1. One thing you like about me:
2. Two things you like about yourself:
3. Put this in your LJ okay?

Home for the summer. Working at Smokey Joe's dishing out potato salad, macaroni salad, coleslaw, pulled pork/chicken/beef BBQ sandwiches, ribs, fries, and such. And doing lots of dishes. And makin' lots of monays! But not really. Only compared to the money I didn't make when I didn't have a job. So, in comparison to zero it's a lot.

When I'm not working I'm hanging out with whoever wants to make time to hang out with me. Or sleeping. Or interneting. My life is so exciting right now! I was being sarcastic there, but it actually kind of is. Making money is fun. I actually have gone shopping with my own money and bought things on my own, rather than get my mom to take me. Am I on the way to being a big kid now??! I'm turning 21 in like, half a year. I guess it's about time I've made the step up from diapers to pull-ups. Hah. Will update as more stuff comes along, I suppose. Byezz!!

Suck.

Things that I hate at this moment in time, but will probably get over when I'm not PMS-ing and overwhelmed with work:

-Advisor meetings
-Flute Ensemble, and the music department here in general
-Stupid hot weather and not enough summer clothes
-Getting my period earlier than expected and bleeding through my capris
-Housing selection
-Class registration
-Numerous papers and presentations that are all due the same week because my teachers suck
(-and in general too much to do before the semester is over)
-Everyone within a mile vicinity
-Text messages from strangers
-Massive headaches

Back to work I go. At least I'm now on page 5 of my "scriptural analysis" due tomorrow evening. Has to be 6-8 pages so I guess that's something to be optimistic about. BalkhflkaHFSlskfhragrh. No more 19 credit semesters for me.

La Entrevista

This is so late, it's ridiculous.

Interview Me Meme.
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will post the answers to the questions (and the questions themselves) on your blog or journal.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions. And thus the endless cycle of the meme goes on and on and on and on...

1. Where would you like to see yourself in 5 years and where do you realistically see yourself in 5 years?
Weird, I'll be 25 years old...I'd like to see myself happily married and being Suzie Homemaker and taking care of my house and family. My family being my husband, but no kids yet.
Realistically? Well, I think the marriage thing is realistic enough so I'll keep that. But we'll probably be living in a tiny apartment and I'll be working somewhere to help make ends meet...maybe I'll be a secretary. Or a translator for some big important person. Who am I kidding? I'll probably end up teaching Spanish at Ryken. lol. (Except there's no way in hell I will seek that job unless my life depends on it.)

2. If you had to write a book about yourself, what would you call it and why?
Umm. I'll probably hire Christa to be my creative adviser. But....alright, it could be called "Go." That's from a Missy Higgins song called 'Katie' that I like...for obvious reasons. It's a sad song, but I love it. Check out the lyrics if you're curious. I think the word 'go' is good though, because I've always needed a lot of encouragement to do anything. I'm working on just doing things and jumping in headfirst rather than sit on the sidelines, afraid of what will happen. All my life I've played it safe and made my main concern to make other people happy, but now is the time to do things for myself and work towards what I know will make me happy in the longrun. I'm going for it.

3. What event in the past year has taught you the most about yourself?
I guess going on the pilgrimage to Fatima and Lourdes taught me how little I know about my faith and how much guidance I need in that respect.

4. If you could only eat one food and drink one drink for the rest of your life, what would they be?
Chicken of some kind...chicken parmesean, chicken cordon bleu, chicken adobo, chicken almondine...do I have to pick one of those dishes? Because I'd rather just say chicken and get to have all of them! If I must pick...chicken cordon bleu. I'm fine just drinking water for the rest of my life. I rarely drink anything else anyways.

5. You're in a movie, what's your role?
Not leading. I'd probably be a less important role with not a lot of screen-time or even just an extra because I'm not all about being in the spotlight. I'm trying to think of an example...Maybe I'd be like one of Adam Sandler's ex-girlfriends in Bedtime Stories. They had smaller parts but they still had importance in the film. Sort of. If you haven't seen it, you should. Me gusta.

Isn't it awesome how I always get sick right before my breaks from school?! I guess in a way it is, because I don't have to miss classes when I just lounge in bed. But being sick in general sucks. At least I have my own bed here at home.

Also, tell me

A little while ago I got a text from a 240-538 number that I thought might be a friend from home....but was not...and had a conversation with what I believe to be a lonely pre-teen boy. Transcribed as follows:

hey
hola. who is this?
steven. is this harley?
nope.
oh i am srry. may i ask who this is?
(I didn't respond because I didn't feel the need to, since he was a stranger...but the next evening he texts me again!)
may i ask who this is?
katie.
oh ok katie i am steven. n im rlly srry. its jus i thot this was her number. ur not mad at me r u?
lol i don't even know you so its cool. don't worry about it.
oh ok then im srry. im jus used 2 ppl bein short wit me n treatn me like crap. T_T. but um yea. just not havin a gd day at all im srry.
(I didn't respond to this, but he texts again after waiting a few minutes...)
how was ur day?
i'm doing well. sorry you're having a bad day. i have limited texts though so i can't really talk to you. [<-lie.]
l8er then?
(Seriously? I didn't respond after that.)

The word usage and signature of ~<(BOLT)>~ is what led me to believe it's a preteen. Unless it was some creepy adult pretending to be a kid in order to get to know me and steal my identity...it worries me that that actually happens. Or what if it was just a kid, but I was a creepy adult person ready to take advantage of his lonliness and kidnap him? This "Steven" guy doesn't even know me but was trying to carry on conversations like we were bffs! I do not understand the world.

Hope your Spring Breaks are going/will be swell. :)
Pffttt spring break...as I look out my window at the 1.5 feet of snow on the ground....why bother giving us this break. I'll take it when it's actually Spring. I had enough of Winter Break already. Booo. I'm such a whiner.

Madeleine said to, and I haven't posted in forever anyways.

You know how sometimes people on your friends list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when are they working THERE? Since when are they dating HIM/HER? since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Please copy mine below, erase my answers putting yours in their place then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration! One-Word-Answers seldom help anyone out.

1. First Name: Kathleen. But if you call me that I'll freak out because it either means you're mad at me or don't know me well enough to be talking to me in the first place.

2. Age: 19.33333 years of age.

3. Location: Living at home with mis padres in Maryland. School location is more or less Philadelphia.

4. Occupation: Student. Major: Spanish. Minor: Business. I applied at Subway for summer work and if they hire me I will be a Sandwich Artist!

5. Partner: There's no one right now. My last relationship "took a break" last summer before I left for school, and then I ended it in January. I may or may not have a tiny crush on one of my buddies though...we'll see how that ends up.

6. Kids: I like making faces at them. But if we're talking about my own, that shouldn't come 'til much later in el futuro.

7. Siblings: One older little sister. She's good people. Although I feel like she sometimes is too self-absorbed, she generally has good intentions. She can work a crowd like a beast and anyone who she encounters will most likely come close to dying of laughter at some point in their relationship...if not many occasions. She's passionate about everything she does, be it writing, swimming, reading, video gaming, eating, telling jokes, giving advice, or falling in love. She used to hate me always following her around and trying to be like her, but I like to think we now have a mutual love and respect for each other. I consider her one of my very best friends.

8. Pets: Felix is the most amazing cat in the world! Except when she (yes, SHE...) goes all bi-polar on you and decides it's a good idea to try to gnaw your arm off. But that rarely happens. She's black and white like her name suggests, and is pretty tiny for a nine year old cat. She'll come running from the woods when she hears us pull into the driveway, or ring the doorbell with her face if she's outside and wants to come in. It's cute, except at 3 in the morning.

9. List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life:

i. My mom and I are going an a pilgrimage with a church group to Spain/France/Portugal to see Lourdes and Fatima and other religious-y stuff I suppose.
ii. I have a school job as one of six bloggers who write about our experiences at CHC and try to convince potential students that it's the place they want to be. $12.00/blog!
iii. I beat RockBand playing drums on hard and am halfway through expert. Subway really needs to hire me so I have something else to do with my summer.
iv. I'm trying to get in shape and run a mile on the treadmill a couple times a week. I feel like this would have a more drastic (and positive) effect on my body if I knew how to stop eating junk!

10. Parents: My mom and dad have been married for 22 years. My dad was in the Navy and met my mom in the Philippines while on a tour there. They both have high expectations for their daughter and want nothing but the best for everyone in our family. They are very charitable people but sometimes it seems to me as though they're charitable simply so they can say that they are, rather then just doing it to do it.

11. Who are some of your closest friends? It's hard to say. Although I get along with basically everyone I meet, I don't really feel super close and connected to someone until I cry in front of them. And not because of a sappy sob-story movie, but because I opened up and let them see that vulnerable side of me. I have fun with a ton of people though and would say I'm close to them, but on a different kind of level. Anyways, I'd say my closests are...my sister and a few other people (a couple from home, a couple from college) who I have deep heart-to-hearts and cryfests with on a regular basis.

G'night!

I'm as good at making analogies as Edgar Allen Poe is at not being depressing.

HOLY BAJOLY, FRESHMAN YEAR IS OVER. After exams this week, anyways. So weird. It flew by like a dove out of a magician's sleeve.

........

...Apparently college hasn't improved my ability to make effective analogies because that was superlame. Like a midget with no legs. Oh god, I'm horrible!

Anyways, I should be studying so I'm just going to cheat and tell you guys to check out my "multiply" site. I use it to mainly keep track of family doings, and wrote out a blog there and posted picture highlights of this year. Check them out; it was an eventful one! I don't think you need to be a member or anything to see it all either. Just do it.

Click here to be transferred to my multiply page!

Good luck with finishing up your exams and such. I know I need good vibes sent my way so I get through this week...

I can't remember where this was from, but it was prettty.

Another gift, completely made out of ivory from elephants' tusks. Before it was illegal to do stuff like that. This picture doesn't even capture the craaazy small details that were carved in though.

Another gift from an Asian country...can't remember which. :/ Still REALLY cool. Reminded me of Night at the Museum, lol.

"A soldier holding his weapon reminded Colombian musician Cesar Lopez of himself holding his guitar. Thus was the Escopetarra conceived. The rifle used to make the Escopetarra comes from the 60-year-old armed conflict in Colombia. A 'No Violence Campaign' developed in Colombia to convert rifles into electric guitars and hand them over to musicians and museums to spread a message of nonviolence."

View from where I ate lunch.

View of Long Island and my face, still at lunch. :P

Pretty Grand Central Station.

View from the bus on the way back towards Philly.

LOL I wish this one had turned out. It was specifically for Made-line, and was a sign that said "Alexander Hamilton Service Area, 1/2 Mile"

I am almost a Spanish major! With a possible minor in business administration, but I haven't gotten all the paperwork turned in to make it official yet. I was planning on staying a business major, but some random, spontaneous thought made me go talk to the head of the Spanish department and do that junks instead. I just realized that maybe it was the trip to the United Nations that helped push me in that direction? Or maybe it was something my Spanish teacher said. Whatever it was...I'm surprised at how excited I am about this, haha.

Anyways. School has been going pretty well, especially since I withdrew from the honors seminar thing because it suckkkkkkkkked. Way too much reading every night, leaving not enough time for me to do anything else I wanted to. AKA Jazz Ensemble, Hill Singers, Pep Band, volleyball games, and other various extra-curricular activities. (Yeah, yeah..I'm still a band nerd, even in college.) But I'm doing pretty well now. I still get terribly home and friend-sick every once in a while, but I'm holding my own.

Still can't wait for Thanksgiving Break! Mmmm I miss home food..

Stolen from Christa. I felt it necessary to continue my string of non-entry posts. Just because. So here's a weird but cool...DNA thing?

<lj-embed id="1" />

Mood:: DREAMER [Always drifting off, their imagination takes control. They have big ideas, and a cool calm manner.]

You can be both calm and peaceful, and you like to feel free to explore your environment. You can be a little nostalgic and you love revisiting familiar places and memories. When it comes to art, you appreciate natural beauty. You take time to soak up the nature favouring the coastline and countryside to city galleries. As for music, it's the soundtrack to your world. You've got grips with downloading and your mp3 is at hand. It gives you focus and concentration- you might find it hard to switch off. Your choice treat reveals your values. Family is top priority and there is never enough time to spend with them.

Personality- Fun:: CONQUEROR [They are full of ambition and energy- cavalier and always moving onto the next level.]

You love physical activity- you've got a real spirit for adventure. Keeping a clear head and healthy body makes you ready for whatever life throws at you. For kicks, nothing beats an adrenalin rush. You like to take risks and push limits...you're confident and brave- life is for the living. When it comes to holidays, relaxing and spending time with friends and family is what it is all about. You like long, lazy, sunny days- coming back home rejuvenated. What grosses you out? Nobody is perfect, but some bad habits aren't acceptable; you realize that health is wealth.

Personality- Habits:: BACK TO BASICS [They are striving for a simpler life. They do without disposable trends and are inspired by nature and longevity.]

You never have enough rest- either you're too busy, exhausted, or perhaps just a little lazy? Either way, your snooze is your best friend, and at times your worst enemy! Your choice of drink shows that on the whole, you care about your health and make sure you're putting the right stuff in. As for the home, style is not really top of your life- you're too busy with other things in life. Functional meets all your needs.

Personality- Love:: LOVE BUG [They are the type to fall in love a thousand times a day. Their feelings snowball quickly, and they are full of passion.]

For you, love is about longterm commitment. You love the idea of commitment and the whole big day! When you think of freedom, nature takes over. Getting back out into the wilderness is a big draw.

Interesting..

Happy Turkey Day, kiddos

So today's the day. The day when text messaging is off the hook like crazy, and the house is making dinner and cleaning like crazy, and the kitty is outside making doody in the plants. lol. I did the whole 'happy thanksgiving, i'm thankful for you' text messaging to kids last year, but everyone else beat me to it this time around and since I like to be different, I decided against that stuff, and now I'm here, doing this. Wow, I like commas?

Anyways. Onward to the sappy 'I'm thankful for..." list.

I'm thankful that my family gets along (for the most part). And we can agree on things and go see movies together without killing each other.
I'm thankful for my big sister for keeping me entertained and singing conmigo when she comes home, and for helping me be a girl when we go shopping and stuff because I suck at that. And for messing up my bed after I've made it nice and pretty.
I'm thankful for my dad for always keeping everyone happy, breaking tension with his corny jokes or winning at the burp/sneeze game. And I'm thankful that he listens to my random, pointless stories without interrupting or complaining, while everyone else laughs or has other conversations.
I'm thankful for my mom, who willingly drives me and my friends whenever needed, since I can't legally drive anyone non-related yet. And for relenting to listen to our music when I know she desperately wants to listen to smooooth jazz or the EWTN station on the satellite radio.
I'm thankful for my kitty, who, even though she poops in plants, is the bestest kitty ever. Especially when she goes outside with you and runs around and chases leaves and plays tag and ding-dong ditch. She's cool like that.
I'm thankful for my friends (ESPECIALLY my breast ones, =D) for always being there to finish my sentences, buy me fries, or cheer me up on a crappy day. I'm thankful that they're music nerds like me, so we can just practice and chill with our instruments for forever before realizing that our parents are trying to sleep. I'm thankful for the school buddies who make walking to class more interesting with a quick game of *TAG, you're it!* or puddle-jumping on rainy days. I'm thankful for my new dude, who's the nicest, coolest guy ever, even though he's in love with Felicia. And Lee. =P I'm also thankful for my out-of-state friends, who manage to stay in touch to tell me how they're doing. It's nice to know they're still doing good, even though they're far away.
I'm thankful for my teachers this year, who have been pretty cool at not being jerkfaces. I still dislike the work they give us, but they're not bad people.
I'm thankful to God for giving me hands to play piano, eyes to watch my family acting goofy, a nose to smell yummy mashed potatoes, ears to listen to Christmas carols, and a mouth to eat marshmellows. I'm thankful that I'm able to go to a good school with good people, and the best chicken fingers.
I'm thankful that Thanksgiving wasn't so stressful this year, but I know that come Saturday night and Sunday, our house is going to be insane.
Lastly, I'm thankful that we can have dessert now because I've been craving that junks all day.

Adios lovelies, and remember that if you're reading this, you're probably one of the people I'm thankful for. So don't go and do anything dumb like overeat and die or jump off a bridge, because then I would be sad. *many tears*

Have a joyous Thanksgiving my friends. =]

My bad, this is Katie's sister. I accidentally posted my entry under her name.

But whatever. This is fun.

What can I write about her?

Katie has a tendency to snore (although she'll deny it), and sometimes she sleeps with her mouth wide open. She's cute when she's awake, but when she's sleeping...she's so ungraceful. Sometimes, it's awkward.

She says I'm a good writer. Which is nice, because she's awesome at music, and I'd like to have a talent, too.

You might not believe it, but Katie's a better person than me. Even though our parents give her a hard time, she's never done anything really bad (oh, the things I was doing when I was her age...*cringe*). Plus, she has the biggest heart. And I love her for it.

And this really is Christa. Ask Alison. She's with Katie at the River Concert thing so she can vouch for that. Plus, Katie is way too modest to write all this shit about herself.

You be good to her. You break her heart/spirit/feelings, I'll break your face.

reasons why i love christa

she makes me laugh.
and laughs with me when we have retard moments.
she drives.
she drives me to get good food.
she sings and lets me play piano for her songs.
she doesn't make fun of me when i try to harmonize.
she's maganda.
she cooks REAL GOOD. and not like grilled cheese good. more like chicken cordon bleu good. or lumpia good. or the best macaroni and cheese in the flippin universe good.
she has pretty skin.
she buys good DVDs.
she likes good music. with the exception of some of her stupid ghetto songs that all sound the same. (but are still kind of fun to dance to in the car when we're uber hyper sometimes..)
she has a pretty smile.
and a contagious laugh.
she's smart.
she is awesome with words.
she's good at algebra. or used to be. i'm not sure.
she's a spazz.
she'll quote disney movies and songs with me.
she watches kid shows with me. [BACKYARDIGANS w00t. haha and dora the explorer]
she ALWAYS knows where the remote control is. ;]
she knows how to download pictures onto here and post them.
she has cool t-shirts.
her tiny feet are cute.
she gives me clothes.
she shares her kitty with me.
she knows that boys are petty things to work yourself into a tizzy over.
she's nice.
she's caring.
she gives good advice.
she's my big chister.

FOCUS ON THE GOOD THINGS, TARD. the good things outnumber the bad ones, and are more important than anything else.

i kick butt at uno. =P

i got a surprise birthday party! but if i were smart at all, i would have figured it out...there were little things all week that i could have figured everything out on, but didn't pay much attention to until today. anyways, it was all good fun. we went to the movies and saw "racing stripes" and i honestly had no idea that it was going to be about a zebra. the commercials that i saw for it had dancing flies in them. but i don't remember any zebras. hrm.
after the movie i opened my front door to balloons and streamers and my family screaming at me. it was actually kind of scary. we ate mucho food, watched mulan 2, taught madeleine how to play uno [WITH WATERPROOF CARDS! lol..] and tied glowsticks to the ceiling fan in my room (with the lights off, duh) and watched them go around and around and around and around...good times.
anyways.
when it was just alison and i left we went crazy with the camera. after cutting up the care bears tablecloth and making shapes out of it. you must see the pictures of alison's care bear mask. but i have no idea how to download the pictures onto the computer so...maybe christa can come home right...NOW and do it for me. or my mom can. or you just don't get to see the pcitures. =P but they so fun.

now it's late. and i should sleep.

goodnight, my friends. =]

good times.

*sigh* i like my friends. or i just might like them because they make me feel smarter, but then the ryken crew makes me feel dumber so it all evens out.

so. yesterday was the long-awaited trip to kings dominion. 'twas i, alison, jojo, craig, hayley, and kayla (now known as "Hayla," since my parents suck at their names for some reason.). i actually went on those creepy rollercoaster things and enjoyed myself. but not the wooden ones. i don't trust those at all. nope. i EVEN was excited about going on the Drop Zone, and was sitting in the chair, all giddy and excited about being brought up to and dropped from a million feet off of the ground, when the announcer starts talking about how sorry he is that they're not letting us go up, and it's closing due to inclement weather. he even threw in a "we hate you george and steven" in there. i'm guessing that they're the manager people who stopped the ride, and i think i hate them too. boooo.

anyways..after we found out it was going to storm, we decided to go swimming. THAT way, we'd already be wet when it started raining. we so smart. but the wave pool thing made me feel nauseous. we quit swimming and walked around for a while, looking for a food place when it started pouring rain. I LOVE RAIN! alison and i decided to walk around in circles and stomp in puddles for a while, and the non-ducky people (get it? cuz ducks like water. haha. i rock.) stayed inside watching forest gump. but not really watching the movie, cuz there was something wrong with the movie and all you could see was a foot and it wasn't moving. yesh. [insert story about creepy stalker guy here...don't feel like typing that all when i could talk about other stuff.]

we walked to the indoor rollercoaster, (either called flight of fear or the outer limits, not sure which, i heard both thrown around..) but that wasn't open for strange reasons.

ater that we headed to the theater so see Spongebob, 3-D!! but that wasn't playing, so we watched some racing thing instead. that was pretty cool though.

potty break, getting separated and lost, trip to the lockers and candy store is all that happened after the racing thing, before my mom called and told us that they were in the parking lot, waiting for us (me, alison, and hayley...the lost ones.).

i thought that the ride home would be boring, since everyone would be all tired and sore...but we were all hyper as crap. (probably the cotton candy and toblerone that we bought in the candy store right before we left.) i feel bad for christa, after reading her entry. (although she DID sing with us, she quit after a while and tried to sleep..sowwee.) we sang disney, veggie tales, and christmas songs before we got to hayleys house to drop her off. the songs took forever to sing, since we were doing them one word at a time, with each person singing a word, and then moving on around the circle...i think everyone was done with the singing after i tried to start "99.9 bottles of beer on the wall, 99.9 bottles of beeeeeer. take .1 down, pass it around, 99.8 bottles of beer on the wall. 99.8 bottles of beer on the wall..." got home at midnight-30. slept.

writing a bunch of it down, it seems like we didn't do much. but it was still awesome. being out of the house all day, away from my family (no offense xa), taking random pictures and making a "still life" consisting of my phone, bracelet, kayla's bracelet, money, a pen, keys and a keychain, an aquafina bottle, and some other random stuff from people's bags..good times indeed.

(h) American Literature O'Brien
(h) Spanish II staff..mr boxwell is gone
(h) Algebra II Riester
Orchestra staff..some new college guy.
Chemistry Culpepper
(h) World History Martinez
Old Testament Sommer <--First semester
New Testament Sommer

i still don't get all of the letters and numbers..even after randa and mike tried to explain it to me. CRAPPY EXPLAINERS! too much complicatedness.
